Health care cost is the single most important factor that forces families into poverty. The Foundation supports families to meet costs of essential and life saving medicines, diagnostic tests that determine further treatment, and surgery that helps in their early rehabilitation and enables them to continue with their livelihood
Low income families often have to sacrifice education costs of their children for want of basic food and living necessities. The Foundation extends support to families in the form of educational stipends so that boys and girls of these families are not deprived of a chance to be educated
Many low income families are caught in the vicious cycle of poverty, deprivation and disease. No matter what they do, they cannot make both ends meet. The Foundation supports such families to repay small loans, purchase food items, clothe their children, provide safe shelter, and enhance their livelihood options. It also assists widows who have no other means of support
Awan Foundation has been operating for about twenty years since its inception in 1993. Over the years, the scope of its activities has increased significantly. This has been possible through the generous contributions received from the Awan family, individual donors, relatives and friends abroad.
The main focus of Awan Foundation’s activities has been in education, health, shelter, social protection, gender, disasters and humanitarian assistance, water and sanitation, and livelihoods.
The Foundation is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan under Section 42 of the Companies Ordinance 1984.
